What are the “classic” cigar styles by length and ring gauge?
If you are interested in learning about the different types of cigar styles and ring gauge sizes I have compiled a list of them for you here.
The classic cigar styles by length and ring gauge are as follows:
The cigarillos cigar is small and about the size of a cigarette. It is 3 inches in length and has a ring gauge of 20.
The churchill cigar is a large, corona-like cigar. It is 7 inches in length and has a ring gauge of 48
The corona cigar is the most familiar to the average cigar smoker. it has a length of 5 ½ inches, with a ring gauge of 42
The Corona Gorda Cigar is like the corona cigar, but larger. It is 5 and ⅝ inches in length and has a ring gauge of 46 to 48
The Double Corona Cigar is simply that, a very large, doubled in size corona. It has a length of ten inches and a ring gauge of 48 to 50
The presidente cigar, also known as the gigante, is the largest of the cigar types with a length of 10 inches and ring gauge of 64.
The smoking times on each cigar will also vary by the size. A cigarillos type of cigar will only take about ten minutes to smoke whereas the presidente cigar will take about an hour and fifteen minutes. That’s an impressive burning time. The smaller coronas and churchill cigars will run you between forty five and sixty minutes.
