Storyboarding

What is it?

An Executive Briefing Pitch is a quick overview of your business plan targeted for all purposes.
It provides the audience (investor, customers, partners, and co-founders) a good sense of potential business growth and your unique selling proposition.

Why should I do it?

  1. Helps you stay focused on the big ‘idea’ of your enterprise. The pitch comprehensively outlines your enterprise’s narrative issue, the solution, and the value delivered
  2. Provides you a story medium to obtain buy-in for all audiences, especially for investors. Opportunity is constantly on the move, and having a readily-crafted pitch deck provides that advantage.

How to use it?

1.[Storyboarding] Prior to story boarding, you and your team should have an elaborate enterprise plan outlined through our enterprise canvas design or a business plan

2.[Story Structure] Outline the important requirements in a triangular flow. The structure and flow of the presentation is not fixed and depends on your style of story-telling

3.[Visual Presentation] Use our slide templates to get started on content construction and storyboarding

Further Details — Sequences of a Storyboard

Quick Points

  1. The key statement is the main statement driving all facts
  2. Each presentation structure and slide is built like a pyramid; key takeaways are built at the top supported by arguments below
  3. Arguments must answer ‘what’, ‘why’, ‘how’
  4. Structure your writing so that the audience absorbs most important points given limited time, and can understand the content without the presentation

Guiding Principles and Tips
A strong presentation is about capturing the audience’s attention. The audience is key to everything. The presentation deck is only used as a supporting tool, but not the main instrument used for communication.

Further Details — Building the Introduction (SCR)

Situation, Complication, Resolution (SCR) is the starting framework to communicate your argument, story, and objective of the meeting

  • Situation
The situation sets the tone of the context. The situation usually coverts an important story that the audience generally knows and accepts as an undisputed truth
  • Complication & Question
The reason the situation requires further action. The complication further amplifies mounting facts that drive the situation to further rigorousness
  • Resolution
The corresponding solution for the situation and complication. It can also help capture an opportunity

Sequencing of the SCR depends on the audience and your style of presentation; but it is recommended to have all elements

  • Situation > Complication > Resolution
Classic structure of storytelling and most commonly adopted by consultants. Used specifically for first-time purposes in presentations
  • Resolution > Situation > Complication
Bold Move and cut to the chase. However, it is also used with relationships where resolutions have reached been agreed in previous meetings
  • Complication > Situation > Resolution
A major event or disturbance that creates a strong trigger to the storyline and the context

Storyboarding Structure Example

Story Boarding and creating persuasive presentations depends on subject content, audience, and type of presentation that is being delivered

Visual Presentation Creation

What is it?

The ‘Visual Presentation Creation’ is a process that will help you communicate your story through illustrations, texts, analytical graphs, and infographic templates.

Why should I do it?

The usage of a structured powerpoint format will help you get messages to the audience with greater clarity and precision. The best presentations are tailored to the audience in the room.

As the leading story-teller, you’ll get the following benefits:

  • Display context and content that has proven to be more engaging with the audience
  • Tell a comprehensive story given that a storyboarding structure is achieved
  • Think like an artist for the audience

How to use it?

Setting and Delivery Style

To shorten the distance between the audience and the content, we need to understand the arrangement of space and the anticipated delivery style

Audience Profile Questions Template

Inspired by Simon Sinek’s ‘Start with Why,’ these list of questions will help get you through understanding the audience in greater depth and width

The pyramid structure re-arranges content such that important messages are prioritized
Mixed usage of visuals will help guide understanding of content in a structured and orderly format (e.g. arrows)

Presentation Guide Template — Illustration

Select an icon, infographic, and illustration that best fits with the written content

Choosing an effective visual graph will provide swifter understanding of contents

Enhance Coloring, Font Size: Improve labeling through color coding to make reading comprehension easier

Before and After Tips
Format Line Patterns:
Use a combination of straight and dotted lines to differentiate between actual and forecasted amounts
Axis optimization: Identify axis bounds [min, max] and axis units [minor, major] to clearly depict visual performance of graphs

Visual Diagram Library — Bar/Line Graphs

Use visualization features (e.g. sort by, lines, boxed area) to highlight key messages

Before and After Tips
