THE SLIP DRESS

I don’t have an Instagram wardrobe.

My little capsule collection is cohesive and timeless. Minimalism runs in my blood: It’s what I’ve been drawn to my whole life. I get a rush of adrenaline when I find the perfect missing piece, because I’ve been probably looking for it for years and years refusing to compromise, reserving an empty hanger for it, in my closet, as I knew I would finally find it.

This “Less but Better” philosophy of mine, may seem a bit restrictive to some but it’s really not. Sure, you don’t get to go to the shops every other day and impulsively get whatever is on sale, but to me this isn’t the meaning of fashion.

ESSENTIALISM

…is the word I was looking for.

I had an empty hanger in my closet waiting to welcome a bright, simple slip dress next to my white, black and nude ones.

I rarely ever wear colour but when I do I like to keep the silhouettes simple, the fabrics luxuriously unadorned and the shades slightly muted and moody.

When Koogal offered me this dress I heard the empty hanger whispering “yes”.

I nodded in agreement.

VERSATILITY

Slip dresses are the epitome of versatility.

They can be as casual or as formal as you need them to be in order to work for a variety of occasions.

DRESS IT DOWN: A biker jacket, a pair of Doc Martens (they even make vegan ones now) a messy ponytail. A boxy oversized cable knit sweater stolen from the boyfriend (or the men’s department) if it’s cold enough.

HELIOS

is the name of the dress. The Greek word for sun.

DRESS IT UP: A pair of barely there sandals in either black or nude. Jewellery. Red lips. A vintage clutch to finish the look. You don’t need much to look glam. It’s a state of mind, after all.

LAYERS

I’m going to wear mine over a pair of (v) leather skinny trousers and under a metal band tee. Or paired with a sequined top in a blush pink shade and a massive knit, long cardie to cuddle in. My biker jacket and doc Martins go without saying. And when the weather gets a bit sunnier I can’t wait to wear it on its own, perhaps with sandals or a pair of converse and my hair up in a bun.

YOU

How are you going to wear yours?

However, all opinions are my own, y’all know I’m too opinionated when it comes to my capsule wardrobe to support something that I don’t truly believe in.

Until the next one,
