Chelsea Brandwein’s passion for writing and journalism fuels her creative fire. The third-year UCSB student, 20, is majoring in classics and preparing to declare the professional writing minor with an emphasis in professional editing.

Brandwein began her writing career serving as the managing editor for her middle school yearbook and newspaper publications. Her journalistic journey continued when she landed a staff writer position on her high school newspaper staff. She quickly worked her way up the newsroom hierarchy, serving as the sports editor and later, the managing editor. Currently, Brandwein maintains a blog, “That’s What Chelsea B. Said,” and writes for her local hometown newspaper, the Santa Monica Star. She has also been published in the Santa Monica Mirror and the Santa Monica Daily Press.

Brandwein is working for her second year in an on-campus residence hall as a resident assistant (RA). She is in the process of re-applying to continue her RA career in the campus-owned apartments.
Additionally, Brandwein is in her second year of assisting classics Professor Helen Morales with her research on Roman law and sexual ethics. Brandwein plans to use her background in the classics to attend law school and later branch off into writing and journalism.
