Chapter 1: Inheritance

Emma stood at the entrance of the mansion, her heart beating rapidly in her chest. She had never seen anything quite like it. The mansion was an imposing figure, with its tall pillars and sprawling garden. She had inherited it from her great-aunt who had recently passed away, and now it was hers to do with as she pleased.

Stepping inside, Emma was hit with a musty smell that suggested the mansion had been closed up for a long time. The interior was decorated with antique furniture and large paintings hung on the walls. It was a place out of time, and Emma couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease.

As she made her way through the mansion, she noticed that some of the doors were locked, and the ones that weren’t wouldn’t stay open. It was almost as if the mansion didn’t want her there.

Emma brushed off her unease, thinking it was just her imagination playing tricks on her. But then, as she entered the grand hall, she heard something that made her blood run cold. It was a whisper, barely audible at first, but as she listened, she realized that it was coming from the walls.

Emma tried to dismiss the whisper as a trick of the wind, but it continued, growing louder and more distinct with each passing moment. She followed the sound, moving from room to room until she came to a small chamber at the end of a hallway. The whispers were louder here, and she could feel the hairs on the back of her neck standing on end.

As she entered the chamber, she noticed a strange symbol etched into the stone floor. It was a pentagram, and it looked as if it had been there for centuries. Emma couldn’t shake the feeling that she was being watched, and she turned around to leave.

But the door wouldn’t budge. Emma tried to push it open, but it was as if something was holding it shut from the other side. Panic set in as she realized that she was trapped. She screamed for help, but no one came.

Hours passed, and Emma grew increasingly desperate. She could hear the whispers getting louder, and she knew that she was not alone. She felt as if there were eyes watching her from the shadows.

Just when she thought all was lost, she heard a creaking noise coming from above her. Looking up, she saw a small hatch in the ceiling. She jumped and grabbed onto the handle, pulling it down with all her might. It was heavy, but she managed to open it, and a beam of light shone down into the chamber.

Emma climbed up, pulling herself through the opening and into the attic. She looked down into the chamber, and she could see nothing but darkness. But she could still hear the whispers, and she knew that they were coming from somewhere in the mansion.

As she made her way down from the attic, Emma felt as if the mansion was alive. It was as if the walls were watching her, and the whispers were following her every move. She knew that she had inherited more than just a mansion. She had inherited something dark and sinister.
