I drive down the street on a beautiful Saturday early evening with the sun shining, not a cloud in the sky in sunny LA and everyone has their windows up looking straight ahead. What happened? Why the unfriendly tension? Why does it seem everyone has rallied their people? Why is it that we are so stiff and uninviting?

We have today don’t we? So why not enjoy it? Why act like robots looking straight ahead, windows up? What exactly are we afraid of? Is sunny California all about business and no play? Why not let your car window down and enjoy the fresh sunny California air and smile at the guy/girl in the next lane doing the same thing? Are we that detached from the people around us? Or are we aware of them? Or are we just so consumed with our own lives that we don’t stop to look around?

Okay, so maybe we are in the midst of major history in the making? Maybe some of us are worried about the future or the outcome of our futures? So the question is, how do we stay positive in times like these? How do we become more friendly in a general apathetic environment? I don’t have the answer to these questions but I do know that we can lend a smile, open a door for a lady or help an elderly person find their way across the street. Let’s do this people!
