Sandy and Breezy , a short getaway to Redang Island

It’s the time of the year again, where there’s just too much things to do, too much deadlines to catch up on, too many people to meet, too many ends to meet. With that much to do, I decided to put everything down and went for a short getaway. And what’s a better way to forget about everything than a vacation to the beach? Absolutely no. The answer is always the beach and ocean. End of story.

The beach and ocean has a way of making people lazy, it’s just so mesmerizing that you could just lay on the sand and do nothing for a whole day but sunbathing and listening to the sound of the waves hitting the shore. Yeah, imagine yourself now lying on the cold sand, the waves gently humming a rhythm and everything is comprised of ultimate bliss.

For those few days, I did nothing but pure relaxing myself, eat when I am hungry or not hungry, sleep when I am sleepy or tired, not even caring about putting on make up, because, why bother? I went snorkelling and even tried skin diving, played volleyball on the beach, swam a lot in the ocean. It’s pure unadulterated happiness, nothing beats the feeling of being able to let go of everything, even if it was just a few days.

Food was one of the reason why this trip was so enjoyable. Though we were not served with expensive ingredients each meal, what we had for breakfast, lunch and dinner were all honest, heart-warming, comfort food that you could feel was made with love. Or perhaps, the fact that it was a holiday just gloried my taste buds. It helped that the service was great as well, waiters were all very helpful and polite.

See the pancakes in the picture? Those were the best pancakes I have tasted ever! Warm and fluffy, I almost wanted to ask them about the recipe, I resisted the temptation in the end. Now, I am missing the pancakes more than ever.

Of course, nothing is ever complete without my family. I am beyond grateful for them, for making this trip so enjoyable and memorable. I even got to know my little niece Ming Wei, better during that few days of spending time together. She is certainly one of the smartest child I know. A considerate, understanding and lovely girl, she is sure to be going places.
