Another Male Director With Little Experience Given a Big-Budget Project

“Little experience” beyond writing the script and crafting the story behind a movie that grossed $1.25 billion dollars. Pretty sure the studio was more than comfortable handing him the keys to car. I’m sure the fact that he wrote Hotel Artemis also had something to do with his getting this gig. It was most likely a situation where the studio wanted the script and he was only willing to sell it if he could direct.

Hollywood clearly has a double standard for women directors (as the Karyn Kusama article shows well) but in advocating against that discrimination there’s no reason to crap on someone else’s success. Especially when that person has legitimately earned it.
