A day in Utrecht — NOEN Cafe /Rietveld Schröder House/Miffy Museum

Utrecht NOEN Cafe

On the third day of staying in the Netherlands, since we had to accompany a friend to the airport in the evening, we decided to spend the day in Utrecht and visit the museums in the area. Early in the morning, we went to a nearby coffee shop called NOEN for breakfast. NOEN is a popular coffee shop among university students in the area. The shop itself is not very big, with around eight to ten tables, but the overall atmosphere is very cosy, and they play relaxing music. The owner is also very chill. As soon as you enter, they greet you and engage in casual conversations while slowly preparing the food.

Since Dutch cheese is famous, the breakfast at NOEN focuses on different types of cheese and healthy food options. I’m not particularly interested in cheese, so I couldn’t taste a significant difference. However, I did feel that Dutch cheese has a stronger dairy flavor.

This museum is located right next to my friend’s dormitory, and I was always curious about its background. Later, I discovered that it is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Behind the construction of the Rietveld Schröder House, there is a love story involving the homeowner, Truus Schröder, who invited her lover at the time, Gerrit Thomas Rietveld, to help…
