Rachel, I am truly sorry that this happened to you and is undoubtedly happening to many 😞 It’s utterly ridiculous even if not completely unexpected. One strange comment stands out in my mind though. I’m interested to know why you believe that mainland Europe is more likely to be some future bastion of good treatment. I think that, e.g., Brexit is just a symptom of an overall underlying European hostility to the Other…even if the Other is from former colonies.
