Chicago Cultural Center
The Chicago Cultural Center, opened in 1897, is a Chicago Landmark building operated by Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events that houses the official reception place of the city where the Mayor of Chicago has welcomed Presidents and royalty, diplomats and community leaders. It’s located across Michigan Avenue from Millennium Park, in the Loop.
The largest oral history project of its kind, StoryCorps interviews, and documents the diverse stories of people from all walks of life at Chicago. These private accounts are preserved at the Library of Congress and shared with listeners of NPR’s Morning Edition. Create an appointment to talk about your own story at the Chicago Cultural Center.
