Press Invitation to Event

The Political Prisoners Next Door

in solidarity with the jailed students and activists

On this Wednesday, August 23, from 12:30 to 2:00pm, leaders of People Power and Claudia Mo will personally give members of the public updates on the deteriorating political situation in Cantonese and English. The era of sending Hongkongers to jail for their dissent has come, which is the message they want to get across. They will be dressed in prisoners’ get-up to show our solidarity with Hong Kong’s first prisoners of conscience, who were re-sentenced to jail last week after they completed their community service orders. Members of public are invited to stop by for a chat with them, learn what concerned citizens can do, and write messages to the jailed activists and student leaders.

When: Friday, August 25, 2017, 12:30 to 2:00pm

Where: Peddar Street (across the street from Marks & Spencer)

Who (tentative): Claudia Mo (Legislator), Chris Lau, Ray Chan (legislator), Takchi Tam, and other volunteers also dressed in prisoners’ uniforms

Members of the press intending to cover the story are welcome to contact Anthony So at 6494–1486 or Kiu-wai Lam at 6396–4111 for most up-to-date or supplementary information.
