Face Masks have been the way of the skincare world for many centuries. From ancient South American women to the current hype about the Korean sheet mask, the fashion of face masks has never really faded away.

The benefits, the duration, the suitable skin type, everything changes from one type of mask to another. The many types of face masks lead to the ultimate confusion. So here I am, laying down the difference between a Korean Sheet Mask and a Peel-off mask in simple terms.

Let’s get down to the difference.

Difference number 1: Physical Difference

A sheet mask is soaked in serum and gives a feel of a very thin drenched towel. On the other hand, peel off masks come in a sticky, liquid form that needs to be spread on the face. Once it dries and stiffens up, it gives a tightening effect on the skin.

Korean Sheet masks are face-shaped fabric soaked in the serum. The essence immersed mask is taken out of the package and slapped on the face. It gives a cooling and soothing effect on the skin.

Difference number 2: Purpose

When it comes to serving a purpose, both masks do a different job. The popular sheet mask has been our go-to face mask since its rise in popularity. However, our peel-off mask is just as beneficial for the skin.

Both the mask work to hydrate the skin and give that ultimate feeling of taking care of ourselves. However, the Korean sheet mask is more inclined towards moisturization. With their essence-soaked goodness, they work to hydrate the skin, leaving it relaxed and soothing. There are also different sheet mask enriched with a specific serum which serves that purpose.

On the other hand, looking at the peel-off mask, they are inclined towards exfoliation. The stickiness in them pulls away the dead skin cells, leaving it completely smooth and soft. Make sure you know the ingredients of the peel-off mask well enough, as it may lead to irritation.

Difference number 3: Different Steps in Skincare Routine

If their function is different from each other, so will be their sequence, in the famous 10-step Korean skincare routine.

Exfoliation is done once a week and usually comes after the step of double cleansing. Once you’re done with removing all the impurities, dust, and pollutant, a peel-off mask will work to remove the dead skin and the leftover contaminants in the skin pores.
