Queecy, It’s good you mentioned the economic situation as well but it might not even be about the National economic situation but a companies desperate measures to continuely keep it’s doors of business open.
There comes a period that it takes desperate moves and strong push from a companies management to stay afloat, which may include each staff member stepping out of his or her comfort zone to ensure the organization succeeds. I use to wonder why some banks give even the Tellers staff marketing targets.
The fundamental responsibility of each staff is to promote the organization in which they work.
Lastly I think that this little push may bring more revenue to the organization and save the jobs of these same employees.
