WORM/AVAX LP Farm is LIVE

Ladies and gentlehens, that’s a wrap on Season 1 of Blueprints! That’s right, the hottest show on the bokchain hit you with a cliffhanger that has everyone begging for the next season to drop already.

“What’s going on with the WormFarm multiplier?”
“Are we getting any AVAX cinematic universe crossovers?“
“Is the fan-fav ChiknX making a screen debut?“
“Will Chikn Sultan’s massive coq get them in any more trouble?“

!Factos

Well, poulTV enjoyers, we have some good news. Thanks to Cluck’s high-level connections, we’ve dodged both the SECflix ban hammer and the chaotic wake of the Writers Guild strikes — and can confirm a second season of Blueprints.

And because Chikn is life, and Chikn is forever, the Writers Guild has agreed to our generous terms and OK’d their members to join us in the writers’ room. All we did was offer them some exposure and the opportunity to put Chikn on their CV; apparently, it was better than whatever Jimmy Kimmel was bringing to the table. That is to say: Blueprints are only going to get better & better.

Cluckdate Log

What the devs have been pecking away at, at a glance.

  • WORM/AVAX LP Farm is now LIVE
  • APIs have had some errors lately so we’re investigating a complete overhaul.
  • Exposing the Foraging APIs to the public for third-party tooling and analysis 👀
  • docs.chikn.farm updated with brand asset folder, dank memes, and reformatted appendix sheets
  • Avaxium Spires Summit blueprint rebalanced after feedback. Changes are now final
  • ChiknX artwork progressing at pace
  • Q2 Board Meeting by the core team was as energized as ever.

CoqFight updates:

  • Added more elements of counter-play (dodge, counter, trap, etc.), and balanced with internal play testing. This was one of our biggest points of feedback from the closed alpha.
  • Further synthesizing bird upgradability in the context of CoqFight.
  • Redesigning the ‘attack point’ system

Website redesign:

  • New Roost and Marketplace pages are close to deployment!
  • This includes designs for Roostr Day Care.

New Developments:

  • ChiknQuest in the form it was taking — would have been too closely considered a game of luck, not of skill. It’s a legal distinction, and a line that we choose not to cross, especially given recent regulatory developments. As such, we have pivoted our vision and resources into other active play offerings. Ones we are very excited about.
  • Supporting UGC to be a focus in the months ahead.

Foraging & Crafting: Season 1 Review

By Roger Eggbert

Season 1 was jam-packed with WormFarm adventures, crafting shenanigans, and a whole lot of blueprint intrigue in the marketplace.

At a quick glance:

  • 102 blueprints and 103 items were released (including the Summit blueprint and the Gravy Worm Burn Drip item)
  • 63 types of blueprint and 62 types of item were traded

While the market has found a couple of favourites, Chikn farmers have capitalised on the entire Blueprint and Item collection to craft their own strategies. The ongoing tussle between Tungsten and Avaxium maxis is evidence of this approach, and we’ll welcome the day Veg maxis throw their hat in the arena for real.

Speaking of hats, keep the helmets on your worm and get them back in the mines: there are undiscovered goodies to discover! Several Secret Blueprints and Love Monster NFTs are waiting for someone to dig up, so keep on digging.

As we move forward, The Foraging and Crafting systems developed in Season 1 will form the backbone of our Play-to-Own economy. Our guiding principle for the S1 release was to allow players to install any FarmLand with all resource-bearing tiles. As Foraging and Crafting are huge parts of CoqFight, it was important that we had a solid foundation for farmers to grow from.

As we stated from the get-go, Crafting was never meant to be perfect at launch and several updates over the course of the year have pushed and pulled the meta in more balanced directions. As we roll out more blueprints and items, and as existing items see more use in-game, we anticipate these rebalances to continue, although they should only be minor. We always value your feedback on the game, so if you’ve got an opinion, feel free to share it in Discord, or on Twitter.

So, what’s the (s)coop on Season 2? Here’s a quote from Digital Spy:

Fans of Chikn can rest easy, with devs already confirming an upcoming Season 2!

Art Director Gravy Dreamz previously told TMZ that he’ll maintain a “Chikn before sleep” plan for the foreseeable future — awesome news for those trying to get more coq in their life.

Sherbok Holmes, meanwhile, has slightly bigger hopes for the Chiknverse, telling reporters that he’d “love to see Chikn become the only media anyone on Earth consumed.” Now that would be epic.

We agree, real quote that we didn’t (slightly) edit: that would be pretty epic.

WormFarm Multiplier

Farmers were rocked by the surprise appearance of the WormFarm Multiplier right at the end of Season 1. This new feature rewards players for daily deposits into their off-chain WormFarm, giving you more bang for your wriggly buck the longer you maintain your streak.

Building and using your streak is simple, although you should be doing a little bit of strategising ahead of time:

  • Deposit at least 1 $WORM each day to keep your streak going and increase your multiplier
  • The amount you deposit during your streak is calculated into a daily average — you’ll want to keep this as high as you can
  • At any point, execute your multiplier and apply it to your next $WORM deposit!
  • Your boost has a limit — it only applies as high as your average over the streak

The multiplier timer is synced to UTC — make sure you’ve deposited your daily $WORM before it ticks over to keep that streak running hot! Applying your multiplier also resets your streak, so make sure you’re ready to multiply before you do.

If you’re a new player in particular, the WormFarm multiplier is a great way to catch up to the busy beaks that have been hoarding our legless friends for a while now. So pump up your LP, fertilise your FarmLand, and log on every single day to keep the multiplier ticking over.

For those dealing with existing trauma arising from ‘streaks’ in bird-adjacent apps, let us put your mind at ease. This isn’t Duolingo.

While our feathered friends are, often, heavily armed, their auras are much less threatening than the green owl’s. Will you be able to claim revenge on Duo in our bird-based battler? Perhaps one day. For now, keep on filling your WormFarm and take advantage of that multiplier!

And consider setting an alarm — we won’t be sending any push notifications.

Over time, the WormFarm multiplier will get new rewards, bonuses, prizes and gamification added to it. Future you will thank you for creating your daily habit now.

ChiknX

Back in May we managed to ruffle more than a few feathers with the announcement of ChiknX: a cross-chain poultry adventure that would bring Chikn to a whole coop of new users.

We’re extremely happy with the reception that ChiknX got at the summit and back in our Discord — and we’re glad the community is on board for our vision for ecosystem expansion and cross-chain domination.

For those that still have some doubts about the plan, let’s explore the rationale behind ChiknX and why cross-chain expansion is inevitable.

Our story begins, like so many do, with a ripple that grew into a tsunami. When Blizzard nerfed a part of the Warlock talent tree in WoW patch 3.1.0, they couldn’t have possibly known the world-changing impact it would have…

We’ll fast forward through Vitalik’s origin story and jump to 2017 and the rise of smart-contract-based blockchains. Over the last 5 or 6 years, EVM has emerged as the technological standard.

In an industry built on network effects, interoperability is key and a driving force toward the standardisation of EVM. Still, users are spread across many chains that aren’t truly interoperable even if they share a common link through EVM compatibility. This means that there are still barriers to attracting new users across chains.

So, how do you bring new users to your chain?

A lot of projects solve this problem by avoiding this very question. Rather than bringing users to their home chain, they deploy their protocol to the chain where they think the users are. This works in some cases, but ultimately doesn’t solve the problems that fragmenting your userbase can bring.

The sustainable way to solve this problem is to offer a product on other chains that has its value realised somewhere else. Rather than asking people to make a big leap, you’re instead placing stepping stones that make the whole proposition a lot more manageable.

This is our plan with ChiknX.

Chikn has reached saturation on Avalanche: there are very few users left to acquire that aren’t already bok bok’n.

At the same time, we need more users. More users serve to strengthen our tokenomics, and create a better experience for players through more liquid markets and more accurate pricing. More users are also necessary for CoqFight: we need a larger player-base to ensure matchmaking waits aren’t too long.

Chikn has a strong brand and compelling products, and we’re confident that we can grow our player-base if we can reach more blockchain users before having to venture farther afield. To do this, we’ll use a tried-and-tested method that creates organic hype and excitement among jpeg maxis and blockchain enjoyoors alike: an NFT mint.

As we’ve announced, the first chain to be targeted by ChiknX will be Polygon. We’ve been in discussions with the PolygonLabs BD team for a while now and they’ve been incredibly helpful in promoting and connecting us within their ecosystem. Even without all of that, Polygon is an emerging chain with a growing NFT community, and we’re looking forward to cluckin’ around with them soon.

ChiknX Utility

The primary use case for ChiknX NFTs will be CoqFight and Foraging. They offer an affordable entry point for anyone to get involved in the ecosystem, allowing us to offer upgradable NFTs without impacting the integrity of our original series of chikn & Roostr.

Upgradability means they’ll have many of the same features you already know and love. Remember, these will never lay $EGG or squirt $FERT, but will they be interactive in some way? You’ll have to wait and see. You’ll also be able to forage with ChiknX, opening the door to the broader Chikn ecosystem.

ChiknX Visuals

With the evolution of the brand, it’s only natural we utilize the evolved art style. Expect to see this all the way from the website to the new NFTs themselves.

Timing & market sentiment has to be right before we can begin our ChiknX adventure, but with recent market-cycle developments, it seems that time may not be far away! Rest assured our existing community will be kept in the loop and given every opportunity to participate in this exciting next step.

Blueprints: beyond Season 1

Speaking exclusively to Eggtertainment Tonight, KFC confirmed that the devs had “been working hard behind the scenes since wrapping development on Season 1 — even before all the blueprints had aired.”

What does this mean for fans?

Put simply, we can expect more blueprints, more items, and more rewards as your worms dig deeper and deeper, and yes, deeper again.

Will you discover a game-changing blueprint that flips the meta on its head? Are untold riches awaiting at fathoms previously unreached? And will your little miner/spelunkers unleash Khazad-dûm 2.0 in their haste toward the depths? There’s only one way to find out!

What else can we expect beyond season 1? In a recent interview with Coqsmopolitan, Hen Solo leaked some juicy alpha that we just can’t ignore — that Foraging is expanding beyond the birds that we already know and love.

That’s right, we can eventually expect other NFTs to join the adventure and forage for resources.

This expansion will bring Chikn to entirely new audiences, allowing launchpad & partner projects to join the fray and begin their Chikn journey with the NFTs they already have. This initiative may even include projects from across chains, leveraging the power of ChiknX.

Of course, this isn’t just a boon for the projects and their communities — seasoned Chikn farmers will also benefit from the introduction of prizes and hidden items from games and collections across the metaverse, as well as increased demand for current item supply. More Forage-ready NFTs mean a lower barrier of entry for new players, and Foraging maxis can significantly scale their operations. It’s amazing what happens when you add utility to a third-party NFT.

Attracting new players to the Chiknverse is a major objective for 2023 as CoqFight development ramps up ahead of launch. So load up your worms and sharpen your shovel — things are going to get competitive beneath the surface.

As for when to expect Season 2, devs are remaining tight-lipped for now, although we have seen some cryptic alpha slip through the cracks. In a now-infamous leaked internal memo titled ‘Season 2’, the word “UNIQOC” repeated for more than 69 pages — a puzzle that is still stumping theorists on r/Chikn.

Memes

While the market starts to bubble & simmer once again, we want to equip our Chikn army with all the tricks in our toolboks.

This is why we’ve added an Assets section to the Docs, and most importantly — ready-made Memes AND templates for ANYONE to use.

Get creative, make us lol, make each other rofl — and together — let’s infiltrate, nay, dominate the zeitgeist.

And remember — our favorite meme of the next week will win its creator a Roostr NFT!

CoqFight Alpha

Alpha not guaranteed.

Back in May a select group of alpha testers got their hands on an early version of CoqFight and put it through the wringer. Over one week, dozens of players ran through hundreds of matches, providing bug reports and improvement suggestions on all aspects of the game. We collected a lot of amazing points, and while there’s still a long way to go, we were validated in the direction we were heading.

Overall, players thought that the core game mechanic, in its simplest form, was fun. This was a fantastic validation of the work we’d already done and was greatly reaffirming to know we didn’t have to scrap everything and go back to the drawing board!

In group calls after play sessions, our testers came up with a number of suggestions for improvements and changes to the UI and game flow that we’re currently exploring. Once the new version has been tested by the team, we’ll be returning it to the alpha testers for another round of bird on bird action (with feedback).

Thank you to all our alpha testers so far, and thank you to everyone that has avoided pestering them for leaks. We’re staying very tight-lipped as we’re big believers in managing expectations, and a lot can change between now and an open release.

That said, rest assured that the Chikn rumour mill will have nuggets to keep the gears of coqspiracy turning. Who knows what Easter Eggs await in Season 2 of Blueprints…

Website Updates

The Website redesign continues at pace — and it makes us more excited each and every day! It’s got the flare, polish and style that the home of Chikn truly deserves — and we just know you’re going to love it.

Next in line are the Roost pages and the Marketplace — and below are some samples of what to expect (indicative only).

Into the Chiknverse

Looking back at the Foraging rollout and all its composite parts, we’re incredibly thankful for the passion and patience of our amazing community. Without your commitment to the game and penchant for speaking your minds, the rebalancing and rollout would have been a lot longer, and a lot less fun.

The lull between Blueprint Seasons doesn’t mean nothing is going on either.

Discovering all S1 Blueprints takes time, and we anticipate the crafting meta to shift over the next few months as new strategies are discovered and optimised.

The WormFarm Multiplier gives both new and existing players a boost to their WORM supplies, and with more Eggnite launches and the ramp-up of ChiknX preparations, we’re expecting a number of fresh faces around the place.

And with CoqFight testing ongoing and feedback already being incorporated into subsequent versions of the alpha, expect the tantalizing updates to continue.

One last thing: if you’re still trying to ride the meme coin minicycle for some reason, try to stay safe out there. We recently saw the $COCK pump and dump go down over on Cardano, and while that outcome was unsurprising, it did further validate the memetic value of chicken-themed tokens for bokchain enthusiasts.

ChiknX to Coqdano, anyone?

No one?

Alright.

Bok Bok,

The Chikn Team
