Most people kid themselves by thinking they can write a great novel in under a year. This is wishful thinking. If you re not rewriting your novel at least twenty times, it will almost always just be “another” book.
A novel that stands the test of time should take at least two years to write, at 2–3 hours a day. This requires sacrifice and willpower. Most people just want a quick buck, or are impatient, or fail to understand what good writing is.
