The case for rule-breaking, on purpose

Laws, too.

I’d like to think that I am rationally optimistic and that things get better with time. But to improve things, they must go through revisions, repairs, and improvements.

Rules are made to be broken — someone old and wise

The best systems, teams, products, and people are ‘antifragile,’ meaning the more damage inflicted, the stronger they get.

I believe that to make anything special, it has to break the rules within constraints that I call: an ethical green area and a legal grey area.

People often forget that Uber, Lyft, and Airbnb were illegal in many jurisdictions, but as they grew in popularity, the public didn’t care, and rules eventually changed.

To advance society, we need to break the rules ethically.
