Its time to challenge the right to own a gun

Its time, long past time.

In the “Wild West” in fact, guns were highly regulated, even banned in many towns.

We often just start with the assumption that there is this “right” to own a gun, like some natural artifact which may not be questioned.

But why not? No one asserts a “right” to own a fully automatic weapon in a civilized society.

So what moral principle underlies such a thing, as a right to own a deadly weapon in a civilized society?

Why can’t we accept the idea that guns should be regulated and restricted the way we regulate and restrict any other deadly tool, from dynamite to fertilizer?
