Who Is Chippy? 😈
It was March 2020. I was living in NYC working on Gary Vaynerchuk’s personal brand team, Team GaryVee.
The lockdown had just started, so I went from being outside all day to being stuck inside 24/7.
To make the best of the situation, I picked up art again after a decade of failed attempts. I went on Amazon and ordered the first tablet I came across!
As soon as the tablet arrived.. I was hooked!
I drew every night after work and even started a live show “Drawing with Zain” It started with 2 viewers. Then 10. Then 30. And at one point we even had 100 people tune in!
It was so much fun. Sometimes the community and I would draw for 4+ hours together!
One day, I had an idea to make a series of characters I was trapped in my tiny apartment with. And that’s when Chippy was born!
In early 2020, I was enjoying my breakfast when I noticed a tiny red demon baby appear on my dining table and dip his tiny hands into my oatmeal.
From that moment, a lifelong friendship was forged ❤️
We went grocery shopping together.
We played in the snow together.
We celebrated Halloween together.
We even explored NYC together!
There were many times Chippy would have company over without me knowing.
Despite clear house rules…
Due to strong demand from the community, we even dropped limited merch together!
After the last year of diving into web3, including getting to plan and launch all things community & content for VeeFriends and support web3 platforms (Rarible and Islands) with their content strategy, it feels like the right time to bring Chippy into this world and tell his story.
I even gave Chippy a fresh, new look for the occasion!
What Is Chippy’s World? 🎨
Chippy’s World is a collection of 2,500 Chippys on the Ethereum blockchain.
Since early February, I’ve been building in public, sharing project updates and behind the scenes art, getting community feedback, and getting to build relationships with Chippy’s biggest fans. To see all of this finally coming together is a dream come true!
The goal of this collection is to world build, tell Chippy’s story, and to bring everyone’s favorite red devil baby to life in fun ways.
Chippy’s frens (old and new) will also be joining him on this journey, 24 frens to be exact.
In addition, there will be 21 1/1s in this collection. Six of these will be from 2020, to take you down memory lane. Can’t wait for you to see these!
Given my desire to be flexible and creative, at this time our one roadmap item will be gifting holders at a certain time a copy of the collector’s edition of Chippy’s first book (date and details TBA). This book is still in its very early stages and we’re excited to get the community’s input in shaping the final version!
With that said, we have some other fun things up our sleeves that I’m excited to work on and share : )

4/15 edit: we will be minting 5 total to gift our team members (4 discord mods + writer) shortly before launch. After this initial mint, per contract structure, we won’t have ability to mint any more.
This launch will take place in three phases:
PREMINT
Tues, 4/19 12pm ET
We will be offering 300 allowlist spots. These 300 individuals will have the ability to mint upto 2 Chippy’s World nfts ahead of the public mint. These allowlist spots will go to:
- (25) Good Morning Doodles holders: In 2021, I started a small 1/1 collection called Good Morning Doodles (GMD). A snapshot was taken on April 11, 7am ET, and the wallet address of those holders have already been placed automatically into Premint status. In addition, these holders will get to claim 1 free nft (just pay gas) on premint day for each GMD they had at the time of snapshot. Ex: If you had 2 GMDs at the time of snapshot, you’ll be able to mint 2 nfts (0.075 ETH each) + claim 2 free nfts (just pay gas) on premint day.
- (125) Discord active members: Our top active 125 discord members (by most messages sent) over the last 30 days will be granted allowlist spots for premint day. This was not shared prior, as we want to reward genuine engagement and activity. A snapshot was taken on April 11, 7am ET, and next steps will be shared on our discord on Tues, April 12. For context, our most active member sent 101 messages and 125th most active member sent 4 messages total in the last 30 days. If you sent over 4, you should be in Premint.
edit 4/13: It turns out the discord activity data was for the past 2–3 weeks. We gave away 155 spots to make up for anyone who may have missed the top 125
- (150) Giveaways: This group will consist of Twitter giveaways (these will be quick n easy, no intense allowlist grinding but you will need to follow Chippy’s World Twitter), close friends who have helped shape this project, three family members (this will my dad’s first mint!), and longtime Chippy supporters, some of whom are still wearing 2020 Chippy merch!
Regardless of how and when someone gains premint spot, there will be no favoritism on who gets which traits.
PUBLIC MINT
Wed, 4/20 12pm ET
All remaining minting will roll into Public mint.
There will be a 3 max per wallet.
If you already minted during premint, you’ll still be able to attempt to mint three during public mint.
REVEAL
Fri, 4/22 12pm ET
On Friday, we’ll reveal our Chippys and celebrate into the weekend : )
If there’s one thing I want readers to get from this article, it’s that Chippy means a lot to me. This little red guy has been with me through some of the most transformative and challenging years of my life. To get to share him (and his story) with all of you is super exciting.
I have a lot of self awareness — I have zero ambitions to hire 50 people or build a huge video game with complex tokenomics. That’s not me. I just want to have a small group of people who love Chippy (and hopefully me) and make cool things together.
Can’t wait to build Chippy’s World with all of you 🧱
