Thank you… this is the subtle differentiation of phrasing that I’ve been looking for in related discussions for a long time. It’s crucial at this juncture to reframe systemic power imbalances in an approachable way, outside of the Terrordome of hysterical arguments. There’s a middle ground between reducing cultural stratification (through properly acknowledging privilege and oppression) and silencing dialogue (in all encompassing “safe spaces” as the term has been twisted to mean… to me that middle ground requires “turning the volume up” on the microphones of traditionally disenfranchised/silenced voices at the global table. Inclusivity rather than just tolerance. Cooperation instead of competition. The way I interpreted your piece seems very in harmony with this approach?
