Thanks for the article. I was home schooled until high school. I had plenty of friends from church of various ages. All of my siblings were home schooled at some point in our lives, so far all of us have at least a bachelor’s degree. From what I’ve read and discussed with people smarter than me, is that social skills are learned in the home and practiced in social circles outside the home.
Thinking we can outsource the socialization of children is delusional at best. Schools can be a great place to learn, if they hire great teachers (I also have many relatives who teach in public schools), but the love of learning and the social skills necessary to succeed are learned in the home, independent of whether you home school or not.
