Instinct is a know-it-all

I sit here in my cupcake t-shirt looking for answers. How can I even take myself seriously when I’m wearing a cupcake t-shirt?

Making decisions is harder than a frozen veggie burger. Mind you, the veggie burger is only hard for so long and then it begins to soften. Just like the decision begins to soften while it has been cooking in your mind.

Do I do what feels right or what is right? The longer you let it tick over in your mind the more you overthink things and well that only makes you unhappy, even if both the outcomes are great.

I like to go with that thing we call instinct. Nine times out of eleven your instinct is always correct, you just need to know how to read it. I find it funny when people don’t believe in their instinct, honestly, do you really think your instinct is there solely to be a permanent pranker throughout your entire life?

Instinct: ‘Yes it is a great idea to start eating the plastic from your detergent bottle, save the planet’.

You: Okay instinct *eats plastic and gets violently ill*

Instinct: ‘Mwhaha I got you again sucker’.

Look, it’s obviously not going to tell you to jam your head in the window or that you need another loaf of bread but it will tell you the right thing to do, especially when making big decisions.

I like to think of decision making like a food menu, it’s a bad analogy but bad analogies are good.

Have you ever been to a restaurant and been more indecisive than indecisive Ian? Well, I am going to go out on a limb and say we all have. Do I get the pumpkin salad with the new car on the side or the fig salad with the charitable holiday on the side? You may order something expecting it to be amazing but instead it was under cooked and left you with nothing but disappointment, or it could go the other way and be the best meal you’ve ever had.

A food menu is very much like life and next time someone tries to tell you to hurry up and decide on what you want to eat, tell them that it’s not that easy. Moral of the story is just trust your instinct and don’t over complicate it. Maybe buy a cupcake t-shirt, it helped me.
