Planning Your Future

From a very young age we are all asked the question ‘what would you like to do when you grow up?’ This was something that I always found easy to answer when I was a child, but I’ve found that now I’m a bit more grown up, it has become trickier to answer.

Most people would answer this in terms of what job/career they’d like to pursue, however, I see it in a different way. Instead of just giving a straightforward answer about what job you’d like to do, you should think in more depth and answer it with the things you want to accomplish; these things don’t have to be work related- they can be things you want to do, places you want to go, challenges you want to set for yourself etc.

Of course, it’s good to know what career you’d like to pursue as it gives you a sense of direction and purpose. Feeling happy and content with the job you have is extremely important as your career plays a big part of your life.

Did you know that only 30% of people end up working in the careers they dreamed of as kids? This is a little bit surprising but it shows that a lot of people change their minds as they grow up. However, if you’re not doing something that you like or are passionate about, you will find yourself feeling stressed, depressed and not happy. It’s safe to say that nobody wants this so you must make sure that you work hard and reach your goals.
