We have been sourcing for talents all the time.
But in my life as a Headhunter, I must tell you about the reality.
This case is interesting.
A Search Case, requesting for a Trading Director. For Commodities Trading.
This company is a well known brand name in the world. And the brief is very nontraditional.
They are not interested to approach people that are in their own trade.
But instead, they need someone who is at the managerial age, 30 or above. With full family responsibility. i.e. married with a stable family.
This is tricky. But challenging. I take it and work on it.
Reality is, this company seldom go for hiring. But when time comes, means that they are ready and unlike the idea to go for online for absorb for resumes. They prefer to do secret search. Wise move. Why want to tell its competitor for hiring at this critical moment?
Fancy office with a wonderful seaview. Means this company is affording to pay premium rent.
Great. But reality is, the pressure is huge, to get the job done or target fulfilled is non-negotiable.
Clear minded for every trade or contract engagement is needed.
And this company has been trading for coal, cotton and coffee etc.
But gigantic volume.
Job boards and job sites are good to know about what the market is looking for. However, not much job advertisement are well written and leaving the job seekers clueless.
However, I always encourage job seekers to go after their dreams and to prepare themselves for their purpose, in terms of skills and projects that they must try out. (I will leave this part for the next article. )
This is a very typical job brief for me and it is handy.
Cause this company is good enough to take on just a very high calibre and not his skill. The company is strong enough to bundle the hard core skill for the successful candidate to make it. But the most important thing is aggressiveness and being never satisfy about what he has been doing.
This is what we call Candidate of our Dreams.
To reason to get one with a full family burden is to ensure candidate stability as it takes a lot to invest in each individual.
Look, Headhunter always have a full bucket of good guys in record.
Stocking-up candidates is always a key job for a Headhunter. When there is a job market, there is also a candidate pool.
