A Poem “Cocoa to Midnight”
Poetry By Chojnacki Caroline

Cocoa to Midnight
Oh my eyes,
I saw the light
round,
spherical,
brown to midnight.
Golden through the sand,
each flicker
is a moment with you.
Will you tell me if this is a dream?
Oh the nights,
will be freezing,
be freezing.
But it’s getting warmer
and I’m getting closer.
To your destination,
it’s only a few moments away
with out you.
I feel your breath,
right next to mine.
ooo I swear,
I will never let you go.
If you were the last,
I think I would know.
Oh all this time
has changed.
The balance
is lifting me forward,
and now everyone has an opinion.
Maybe I shouldn’t have cut my dreams away,
Because I cut my life short-
I cut my life short,
and it felt like I needed a moment,
an escape,
a resting place.
Oh will I be there in this life?
will I see your eyes,
flicker,
in the mourning.
Oh will I be alive?
to see this story
of love
shift to an epiphany.
Will we intertwine?
Oh will we untangle?
untangle
untangle.
I don’t know?
I don’t know!
The leaves are of cocoa
and the mud on the ground
is freezing.
It’s freezing.
Oh it’s cracking now
for the sun
has given a rose.
And I know that I can be,
a little bit pushy
with you Aphrodite.
Will I wake up?
To your eyes.
Will the light
shine through mine?
Do I see our
dessert sands?
Oh will time
be a moment passing,
passing us by?
Oh will I be with you?
Cocoa to midnight.
