TARIK KHRIBECH — GETTING THE JOB DONE
When Tarik Khribech, 37, came to the United States from his native Morocco in 2003, he arrived with a slightly different version of the American Dream. “My life in Morocco was wonderful. I wasn’t looking to the United States as the key to happiness. My goal was to get the work done so other people didn’t have to,” says Khribech, from his ChoreRelief offices (www.chorerelief.com) located in the 1871 Technology Incubator located in Chicago’s Merchandise Mart. “I never thought, or think of the U.S. as providing a ‘free ride’, rather a vehicle to work hard, help others and get where I want to be,” he says with a smile.

After arriving in Chicago with nothing more than his college degree and a strong work ethic derived from his family back home, Khribech began working in the financial sector with Citigroup. Realizing he needed to expand his horizons in order to create his dreams and become the master of his own destiny, Khribech earned a Masters in Business in the burgeoning IT field. With the additional education and experience under his belt, Tarik developed the first of many businesses.
His first foray was a natural. L’or D’Afrique (African gold) with origins in Morocco as well, spurred Tarik to return to his country to begin sourcing and distributing the finest of the product back into the United States. His 100% Pure Organic Argan Oil, helped start the craze which continues to sweep the beauty industry and provided Khribech with the impetus to continue to take chances, starting with a full line of beauty products, still in play.
The young entrepreneur was quickly recognized by investors and speculators alike, earning him a spot in the 1871 tech incubator and seed money for his next venture. Khribech put together a team to help spread the word and in 2016, ChoreRelief was born.
“Thriving and productive providers are the key to a healthy, sustainable shared economy and to a great consumer experience,” says Khribech. “When providers are empowered as entrepreneurs and consumers are served according to their need, price point, and location…everyone wins.” ChoreRelief combines the online convenience of finding qualified providers to get the job done, whatever the job may be while allowing consumers to set their own parameters, price and time. “Who wants to sit around waiting out a 4-hour window to get household chores and projects done?” says Khribech. “We are streamlining the process to make the experience easy, cost efficient and results driven.”
Service providers are encouraged to develop their own brand and profile as well. Independent workers make up between 20% and 30% of the working age population and this figure is projected to grow to 40% by 2020 (McKinsey 2016). ChoreRelief is putting these numbers to work for them, the providers and the consumers. “The sharing economy has lost sight of the humanity of work,” says Khribech. “No one needs or deserves a free ride, but people want to be treated with dignity and respect and feel as though they’re in control of their own destiny. The sharing economy — needs to share the economy.”
“Everyone wants to hear the term ‘I’ve got this!’ so that they can relax and tend to other priorities,” says Khribech. “That’s the mission behind ChoreRelief. We get to work, so the consumer doesn’t have to!”
