The Hunt : Part One
Drake wakes up and find himself falling into an unknown woodland. He meets many folks at the equal course: Los Zetas police officer Miguel, Special Forces Alpha Group soldier Ivan, IDF sniper Leah, RUF officer Kofi, San Quentin Death Row inmate Lars, gang members Hao, and physician Ethan. The team tracks down Drake, who Leah suspects is a former black ops professional and mercenary. In the woods, they discover a strange image, an empty cage, and the dead Green Beret’s instrument of death.
As they reach further, they find themselves looking up at the alien sky and realize they’re no longer on the planet. During the month it’s used as a hunting ground where people and other animals are killed. Miguel is killed, and his body is used to trap the survivors into a trap which they avoid. The group followed the beast’s path to a camp and found the Predator captured. Their hunters, three large creatures named Tracker, Berserker, and Falconer, attack the group and kill Coffey while the others escape. Leah’s confessed “killer” matches the description of a similar creature that killed a special ops team in Guatemala in 1987 but was defeated by a survivor.
A lone US Army soldier who managed to survive “ten seasons” on the moon by hiding from predators and their victims. He takes everyone to his hideout and explains that Predators hunt in groups of three, honing their skills by stealing valuable items from other worlds and bringing them back to Earth. Gabriel also reveals that there’s a feud between the Predators and another unit called the Super Predators. Drake devises a plan to release the captured Predators in hopes of bringing them home. They purchase equipment. Drake uses explosives to lure predators into the lair. Gabriel is killed by Tracker, who frees the group.
In the ensuing chase, Ivan sacrifices himself to kill the tracker and save Ethan. The survivors are attacked by Berserker, but Lars distracts Berserker, allowing the others to escape before he is killed. Hao stays and duels Falconer with the katana he had hidden from Gabriel, killing him before dying from his wounds. Ethan hopes to finish Drake’s plan until he’s injured in a trap. When Leah refuses to leave him, Drake leaves them both. They are captured by the berserkers who trap them in a hollow and continue towards the camp. Drake frees the Predators in exchange for transportation to Earth.
He dons the Predator armor, turns on the ship with his wrist computer, and heads for Earth. Drake escapes the ship, but Berserker arrives, ultimately overpowering and decapitating the other Predator, then destroys the ship using his wrist computer, seemingly killing Drake. Ethan uses the neurotoxin from the plant he saw earlier to paralyze Leah, revealing that he too is an assassin who wants to stay on Earth. Drake appears and poisons Ethan, then sets up booby traps with grenades, using him as bait to injure the berserkers.
With Leah’s help, Drake defeats Berserker and kills him. The people head into the forest to find a way to return to Earth. The bonds formed during survival give them strength as they face the mysteries of the forest and their own challenges. They realize the fight is not over, but they are determined to survive and find their way.
