What’s absurd is this article, written in the age of absurd voyeuristic self-promoting digital “look-at-me-and-how-I-edit-and-photoshop-reality” smugness, taking a condescending approach to those who, without thinking that they would ever use what they were doing to accumulate “likes” or “shares” or “follows,” got their asses out there and lived differently.

Was some of what they did stupid and culturally-insensitive? Yeah. But at least it was authentic and less narcissistic than the contemporary/youthful arrogance that calls what they were doing “absurd.”
