1. Wash and dry dishes in one movement

Washing the dishes takes up a lot of time, makes your hands greasy, and does not always yield a perfect result. For most of today’s dishwashers to work, you will have to clean up the dishes before putting them into the dishwasher. Then the dishwasher will spend multiple hours washing the dishes before you pick them out and place them in your dish cabinet.

To solve these problems, a startup should build a dishwasher that washes the dishes instantly. Think about automatic car wash machines where you drive your car into a garage, water and soap are applied, multiple brushes make the car clean, and then finally the car is dried before you can drive out of the garage. Now, imagine a similar solution for dishes. You place a plate into something that looks a lot like a slot toaster, and then 5 seconds later the plate pops up clean and dry, and can be placed into the dish cabinet right away. Then there are similar cleaners for glasses, forks, knives, spoons, etc.

Although this sounds like a great idea, there will be challenges with adjusting the cleaners for different sized dishes. The cleaners will heave to reach every part of the dishes in order to clean them fully. Further, the brushes might leave scratches on the plates and glasses, and more soap will probably be needed than for a regular dishwasher.

2. Have your loved ones read to you when they are not there

A lot of people are extremely busy and are often not able to get home to their family before everyone has gone to bed. For young children, it could be difficult to not have both of their parents with them during the afternoons, and similarly many adults miss their wife or husband when they are traveling for work.

The solution to this problem is to create an app utilizing personalized voice generation. The users can use their phone to take a photo of some text, and then the app will read it out loud with the voice of a chosen person. To generate the personalized voice, the person will read a selected text out loud, and then the app will create a personalized voice from that produced sound file.

The users can use their phone to take a photo of some text, and then the app will read it out loud with the voice of a chosen person.

There are some obvious challenges with this idea as well. With today’s massive focus on fake news, the creator of this app will have to find a solution that prevents people from using it to mimic the voice of someone against their own will. Current technology is also not able to create personalized voices that sound realistic, so the creator should be willing to and passionate about inventing new technology.

3. Date the good-looking person you saw on the street

Have you ever seen a gorgeous person on the street that you wished you had the courage to talk to? If so, you are not alone. Many people find themselves attracted to people they see on the street, but don’t have the guts to go up and talk to them. When they get home they are unable to figure out who the person is, and often end up never seeing the person again.

To solve this problem, a startup should create a new dating app where the users can take pictures of people they see on the street, and then the app will use face recognition to identify the person. The user will then get access to the person’s phone number, or get the opportunity to send a chat message if the other person has downloaded the app.

There are numerous challenges related to this idea. First, it may appear awkward if people suddenly start taking pictures of people they have never met. Secondly, the app will need access to a face database in order for the face recognition to work, which most likely will be extremely difficult to get. One way to circumvent this problem is to make the app only recognize people who have downloaded the app and registered their face. If a founder decides to go down this path, I will recommend getting a lot of users in a limited area, and then expand from there.
