Starting an online business in retirement!
Who would want to start an online business in retirement and why?
Well the truth is that the world as our grand-parents and parents has changed and whereas retirement at aged 60 or 65 meant a more laid back time of life after work pursuing hobbies and not getting up at the same time every day and going to work, in the 21st Century it’s a very different story.
Not only do many of the ‘baby boomer’ generation (that’s us) not want to retire but in certain cases we can’t.
But we do want to be useful and apply ourselves to new and exciting things and starting an online business has a certain appeal to many mainly because it’s simply the easiest type of business to get started with.
Let’s take a look at why starting an online business in retirement is the business of choice and how anyone (even an absolute ‘newbie’’) can benefit from this process.
From our 9 years of running an online business ourselves and helping others just like you to do so we know that there are certain things you need to do to start and grow a successful business
- Make sure there is a need for what you want to feature in your business
- Create content and copy that will sell that product or service
- Create a website
- Send traffic (prospects) to your website/websites
- Establish yourself as the “expert” or “go to person” for that product or service
- Have a follow up process to communicate with prospects and customers
- Make sure you can optimise your income with higher value products and services

One we haven’t mentioned above because it related more generally to owning and running a business is MINDSET and we’ll be talking about that more specifically in a future article. It’s a favourite topic of ours and over the years working with hundreds of students all over the world we’ve established that it is the missing link to their success
As was famously said in the Henry Ford quote, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t — you’re right,” emphasizing how much attitude determines success or failure in any endeavour and of course an online business is no different!
