My morning prayers

The following are the prayers I pray every day after getting out of bed. I don’t pray all of them every morning since it was a long list after I started adding to them, so I decided to rotate through them and say one set of prayers for a few weeks and another set after that.

Bless me, O Lord

Heavenly Father, Almighty God,

I humble myself before your Presence.

What a joy it is to come to you.

I thank you and I praise your infinite Majesty,

Omnipotence and Perfections.

Please forgive me of all my sins.

Lord I come to you in my nothingness.

I want to worship you and adore you,

to love you with all my heart,

with all my mind,

with all my soul

and with all my strength.

I want to burn with desire for you like an angel.

I need you my Lord,

I am nothing without you.

I ask you to raise me before your Glory.

Shine your light upon me,

allow me to walk with you

and always do your Holy Will.

Protect me and bless me O Merciful Lord.

Fill me with your Holy Spirit,

grant me peace, love and joy.

Heal me, bless me and sanctify me O Lord;

make me a blessing for all those around me.

Amen.

Prayer to Accept the Will of God

Lord, I do not know what to ask of You. You alone know what I need. You love me more than I am able to love You. Father, give Your servant that for which I am unable to ask. I do not dare to ask either for a cross or for consolation: I only stand before You. My heart is open to You, and You Yourself see needs of which I am unaware. See and do according to Your mercy. Strike me and heal me; knock me down and lift me up. I show reverence and keep silence before Your holy will: Your destiny for me is beyond understanding. I offer myself as a sacrifice to You. I have no other desire besides the desire to carry out Your will. Teach me how to pray — and You Yourself pray in me! Amen.

St Faustina’s Prayer

O my Jesus,

the Life,

the Way,

and

the Truth,

I beg You to keep me close to You

as a mother holds her baby to her bosom,

for I am not only a helpless child,

but an accumulation of misery and nothingness. Amen.

-St Faustina

The Magnificat

My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,

my spirit rejoices in God my Savior

for he has looked with favor on his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:

the Almighty has done great things for me,

and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him

in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,

he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,

and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,

and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel

for he remembered his promise of mercy,

the promise he made to our fathers,

to Abraham and his children forever. Amen.

(Lk 1:46–55)

Prayer of Abandonment:

“Jesus, I Love you…. Jesus, I trust in you….

Lord, teach me not only to accept, but to truly love my littleness and my inner poverty, and to place blind trust in your infinite goodness and mercy, that I may be entirely dependent upon your protective, fatherly care and experience the transforming power of your grace in my life…

My Lord and Savior, I know that you love me more than I can ever imagine, and that you have a plan for my life that will end in eternal glory if I but surrender my heart and soul to you, entrust myself completely to you, and allow you to lead me always, especially through the darkest hours of my life….

My loving Jesus, let the fire of your Holy Spirit purify my soul, my senses, and my entire being to remove from my life anything that might stand as an obstacle to my ability to enkindle that flame of pure love — the love that you desire to receive from me….

Lord, teach me to be not only resigned to your holy will, but to always seek your will, embrace your will, and truly, lovingly abandon myself to it, with joyful confidence that you desire my happiness far more than I do my own. Let my faith response be to give thanks and praise to you always, even when you will that I bear the cross of suffering. With the holy and immaculate Virgin Mary, let me say “yes” to your divine plan for my life, knowing that great things happen when we say “yes” to you….

Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, let me love you with all my soul and all my strength. Grant me the grace to adore you with every beat of my heart and with every fiber of my being, that I may love you with the same passionate intensity with which you have loved me….

My Lord and my God … .

I am the stone …You be the sculptor

I am the clay ……… You be the potter

I am the instrument ….You be the composer and the musician

I am the canvas …. You be the painter …the Master Artist of my life .. .

Jesus, show me what you want me to do…. Jesus, I trust in you.”

Amen.

A prayer to be nothingness

O Lord, ever loving and faithful God,

help me to be little in your eyes,

and in the eyes of men.

May I shrink until there is nothing left of my will.

Take my willfulness and admonish it,

reduce it to nothingness, so that I may reside,

with Mary, the most chaste spouse of the Holy Spirit,

and Saint Joseph, her earthly husband, alone in the light

of Your Divine Will.

Our Father, may your Will reign in me as it does in heaven.

By grace may I be buried in the ocean of Your Will,

so that it is not my life, but Yours.

Not my living, but You living in me.

Not my my prayer, but Your prayer to the Holy Trinity in me.

Not my love, but Your love returned to You.

Not the glory You have given me,

as a creature created in your image and likeness,

but Your Glory returned to You in full.

May I be so little as to no longer count, but

to live only in You, dear Savior,

only-begotten Son of the Father Almighty.

In these last days of Lent, during this Holy Week,

as the Church struggles with anxieties of hope

for the coming celebration of Your Resurrection,

may this prayer be pleasing to You,

so that I may be nothing,

and, in my nothingness gain true servitude to You,

one, holy and true God.

Amen.

Morning Prayer For Fellow-Prisoners by Dietrich Bonhoeffer

O God, early in the morning I cry to you.

Help me to pray

And to concentrate my thoughts on you;

I can’t do this alone.

In me there’s darkness,

But with you there’s light;

I’m lonely, but you don’t leave me;

I’m feeble in heart, but with you there’s help;

I’m restless, but with you there’s peace.

In me there’s bitterness, but with you there’s patience;

I don’t understand your ways,

But you know the way for me.

O Heavenly Father,

I praise and thank you

For rest in the night;

I praise and thank you for this new day;

I praise and thank you for all your goodness

and faithfulness throughout my life.

You have granted me many blessings;

Now let me also accept what’s hard from your hand.

You will lay on me no more than I can bear.

You make all things work together for good for your children.

Lord Jesus Christ,

You were poor and in distress, a captive and forsaken as I am.

You know all man’s troubles;

You abide with me when all men fail me;

You remember and seek me;

It’s your will that I should know you and turn to you.

Lord, I hear your call and follow;

Help me.

O Holy Spirit,

Give me faith that will protect me

from despair, from passions, and from vice;

Give me such love for God and men

as will blot out all hatred and bitterness;

Give me the hope that will deliver me

from fear and faint-heartedness.

Amen.

Pope St JP2 the Great’s consecration to Mary:

Totus tuos

Totally yours,

Immaculate Conception, Mary my Mother,

Live in me,

Act in me,

Speak in me and through me,

Think your thoughts in my mind,

Love through my heart,

Give me your dispositions and feelings,

Teach, lead me and guide me to Jesus,

Correct, enlighten and expand my thoughts and behavior,

Posses my soul,

Take over my entire personality and life, replace it with Yourself,

Incline me to constant adoration,

Pray in me and through me,

Let me live in you and keep me in this union always. Amen.

Prayer to the Eucharistic Heart of Jesus

Heart of Jesus in the Eucharist,

I adore You.

Sweet Companion of our exile,

I seek You.

Holy God become man,

I beat with Your Heart.

Eucharistic Heart of Jesus,

solitary, abandoned,

humiliated, cursed,

despised, outraged,

ignored by men,

have mercy on us.

Lover of our hearts,

pleading for Your beloved,

patiently waiting for us,

eager to hear our confidences,

desirous of our devotion,

have mercy on us.

Heart of grace,

silent and wishing to speak,

Refuge of the hidden life,

Sharer of the secrets of union with God,

Eucharistic Heart of Jesus,

have mercy on us.

Jesus, Victim, I want to comfort You.

I unite myself with You.

I offer myself in union with You.

I count myself as nothing before You.

I desire to forget myself and think only of You,

to be forgotten and rejected for love of You,

not to be understood, not to be loved, except by You.

I will hold my peace that I may listen to You.

I will forsake myself in order to be lost in You.

Grant that I may quench Your thirst for my salvation,

Your burning thirst for my sanctification,

and that, being purged, I may give You a true and pure love.

I no longer want to deny Your expectations.

Take me. I give myself to You.

I entrust to You all my actions and thoughts — my mind, that You may enlighten it,

my heart, that You may fill it,

my will, that You may establish it,

my soul and body, that You may feed and sustain them.

Eucharistic Heart of Jesus,

Whose Blood is the life of my soul,

may it no longer be I who live,

but You alone Who lives in me. Amen.

Hail full of grace!

Hail full of grace!

With every virtue was the Virgin adorned who as a lamp carried the unquenchable Light more splendid than the sun.

Hail, full of grace, golden urn containing the heavenly Manna!

Hail, full of grace, quenching the thirst of men with the fresh water of the eternal fountain!

Hail, full of grace, spiritual ocean in whom was found the heavenly pearl, even Christ!

Hail, full of grace, glorious heaven containing the God whom the heavens cannot contain!

Hail, full of grace, excelling the cherubic throne of godly splendor!

Hail, full of grace, pillar of light containing God who leads His people through the desert!

You are blessed, O holy Virgin Mary, and most worthy of all praise, since from you has risen the Sun of justice, Christ our God.

V. In your glory and your splendor.

R. Go forth, advance with victory and reign. Amen.

Prayer of Release

Heavenly Father, I release to You the burdens

that I have been carrying, burdens that You never

intended for me to carry. I cast all my cares upon

You- all my worries, all my fears. You have told me

to not be anxious about anything, but rather to bring

everything to You in thankfulness.

Father, calm my restless spirit, quiet my anxious

heart, still my troubling thoughts with the assurance

that You are in control. I let go of my grip upon the

things I have been hanging onto, with opened hands

I come to You. I release to Your will all that I am

trying to manipulate; I release to Your authority all

that I am trying to control; I release to Your timing

all that I have been striving to make happen.

I THANK YOU for Your promise to sustain me,

preserve me, and guard all that I have entrusted to

Your keeping. Protect my heart and mind with Your

peace, the peace that passes all understanding.

Father, may Your will be done in my life,

in Your time and in Your way. Amen.

  • Roy Lessin

My last prayers of the morning are prayers of thanks. I realized that all of my prayers were either of petition or of praise, but none were prayers of thanks for everything God has blessed me with. In fact, these are the most important prayers, so they will be the last ones I say to lead me into a new day.

I also added several prayers to the Holy Spirit since I wasn’t asking Jesus to send me the Holy Spirit at all and wasn’t praying directly to the Holy Spirit either, and I can do nothing without the Holy Spirit.

God as I open my eyes to the world, please open my eyes to what you want me to do in it today.

Dear God,

Thank you for your amazing power and work in our lives, thank you for your goodness and for your blessings over us. Thank you that you are Able to bring hope through even the toughest of times, strengthening us for your purposes. Thank you for your great love and care. Thank you for your mercy and grace. Thank you that you are always with us and will never leave us. Thank you for your incredible sacrifice so that we might have freedom and life. Forgive us for when we don’t thank you enough, for who you are, for all that you do, for all that you’ve given. Help us to set our eyes and our hearts on you afresh. Renew our spirits, fill us with your peace and joy. We love you and we need you, this day and every day. We give you praise and thanks, for You alone are worthy!

In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.

For all You have given,
Thank You God.
For all You have withheld,
Thank You God.
For all You have withdrawn,
Thank You God.
For all You have permitted,
Thank You God.
For all You have prevented,
Thank You God.
For all You have forgiven me,
Thank You God.
For all You have prepared for me,
Thank You God.
For the death You have chosen for me,
Thank you God.
For the place you are keeping for me in heaven,
Thank You God.

For having created me to love You for eternity,
Thank You God.
Amen.

Oh Holy Spirit, You are the Third Person of the Blessed Trinity. You are the Spirit of truth, love and holiness, proceeding from the Father and the Son, and equal to Them in all things. I adore You and love You with all my heart. Teach me to know and to seek God, by whom and for whom I was created. Fill my heart with a holy fear and a great love for Him. Give me compunction and patience, and do not let me fall into sin.

Increase faith, hope and charity in me and bring forth in me all the virtues proper to my state of life. Help me to grow in the four cardinal virtues, Your seven gifts and Your twelve fruits.

Make me a faithful follower of Jesus, an obedient child of the Church and a help to my neighbor. Give me the grace to keep the commandments and to receive the sacraments worthily. Raise me to holiness in the state of life to which You have called me, and lead me through a happy death to everlasting life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

Holy Spirit of light and love, you are the substantial love of the Father and the Son; hear my prayer. Bounteous bestower of most precious gifts, grant me a strong and living faith which makes me accept all revealed truths and shape my conduct in accord with them. Give me a most confident hope in all divine promises which prompts me to abandon myself unreservedly to you and your guidance. Infuse into me a love of perfect goodwill, and act according to God’s least desires. Make me love not only my friends but my enemies as well, in imitation of Jesus Christ who through you offered himself on the Cross for all people. Holy Spirit, animate, inspire, and guide me, and help me to be always a true follower of you. Amen.

Prayer for the holy souls in Purgatory (St Gertrude prayer)

An Act of Spiritual Communion

Prayer to St Michael

prayer to my guardian angel

the Litany of Humility

How to pray three Hail Marys to receive many graces (from Mary’s revelation to St Gertrude)

Mary, my Mother, free me from falling into mortal sin. By the power granted you by the Eternal Father . . .Hail Mary #1

By the wisdom granted you by the Son . . . .Hail Mary #2

By the love granted you by the Holy Spirit . . .. Hail Mary #3

Conclude with a Glory Be, then this prayer:

Mary, by your Immaculate Conception, purify my body and sanctify my soul. Amen.

Prayer for a new Pentecost (revealed by Our Lady of All Nations to woman in the Netherlands)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the Father, send now Your Spirit over the Earth. Let the Holy Spirit live in the hearts of all nations, that they may be preserved from degeneration, disaster, and war. May the Lady of All Nations, the Blessed Virgin Mary, be our Advocate. Amen

My own prayers:

Prayer for seeking the Kingdom of God above all else:

Jesus, I have such a strong desire to learn the details of my faith, and to be able to explain them to others, that I often lose sight of my ultimate goal, which is total union with You. Give me the grace to desire You above all else, and You alone. Help me to desire You more than the knowledge of the faith that leads us to You, and more than my desire to help others and bring them closer to You. Amen

Prayer for letting go:

Jesus, help me to let go of all of my desires, abilities, knowledge, memory, and understanding, and rely on You alone. Help me to trust You completely. Amen

Prayer for trust:

Jesus, help me to never give in to despair and to trust in Your plan for me, no matter how bad my suffering gets. Amen.
