Redesigning Adobe’s File Type Icon System Language
Anny Chen

This was a great glimpse into the thinking behind formalizing a design system across contexts, which is hugely important, and, as you write, often a headache. Really thoughtful work.

But I can’t help but wonder if the real problem is too many products (>100!), built on so many different codebases. TBH, since the intro of Creative Cloud, I find the UI of the workhorse apps (PS/AI/InDD) to have become too much like Windows, and the inconsistencies in the user experience frustrating. I wish Adobe would spend more time making the apps work more consistently across products, and you fixed incredibly annoying things like the nearly invisible marquee in Photoshop and the inability to prevent AI and PSD from creating an image folder to export images, making more work.
