Tesla: The Improvisation Debt

Will the tech innovation credit offset the improvisation debt? For example, the Telsa philosophy that the factory is a product — that huge innovation should be applied to the machine that makes the machines. If they succeed in creating this machine, which they can presumably replicate as needed, will this give them an unprecedented ability to scale their manufacturing? Along similar lines, will the tech innovation applied at each strata of their vertical integration: solar, storage, vehicle and autonomy give them a moat that will be unbreachable by incumbents as they migrate to EV’s?
