Interesting take on motivation. I think there is a difference between goals and a mission (which is what you seem to be talking about). Goals are static and are like points, and missions continuous, like lines.

There’s one quote that kept surfacing in my mind while reading your article: “If you don’t have a goal, you won’t know where you’re going or how to know when you’ve gotten there.” I think one needs direction, but perhaps not necessarily a goal.
