Chiropractic Care For Athletes

Whether you are a pro athlete or just love to play sports, most people understand the importance of keeping their bodies in top condition. Nutrition, strength training, supplementation and injury prevention are essential parts of any athletic training program.

While proper warm up, stretching, ice and self-care are essential components of injury prevention and required for maintaining top physical condition, many athletes have also benefited from the exceptional results chiropractic care can provide.

For years, casual and professional athletes have used chiropractic care to enhance their performance and help prevent injuries. From Jerry Rice, to Tiger Woods to the entire Vancouver White Caps team, many athletes rely on chiropractic care to keep them in top shape and performing at their best.

Now, more than ever, research is showing how chiropractic care can help athletes.

According to a recent study designed to test the effects of chiropractic care and injury prevention: Chiropractic care was found to be more effective than conventional sports medicine treatments in professional football players.

Researchers divided the athletes into two groups: Both received standard sports medicine management however, one group also received chiropractic care in addition to the conventional treatment.

The results were undeniable: The group that received additional chiropractic care experienced a “trend towards lower limb injury prevention with a significant reduction in primary lower limb muscle strains and weeks missed due to non-contact knee injuries.”

The chiropractic group experienced fewer injuries when compared to the non-chiropractic group and were able to perform better, for longer periods of time.

Previous athletic studies have also shown chiropractic care to boost athletic performance, promote faster recovery after injury, reduce lower back pain, improve range of motion and even reducing sports hernias in athletes.

The results speak for themselves. Athletes looking to prevent injuries and potentially improve performance should seek out regular chiropractic care.
