Hi Lauren,
First of all, thoughtful stuff.
I’m unsure of your general point, though. I can identify a portion of your post where to discuss the livelihood and working conditions of those providing services, which I like.
However, most of your article talks about the pathos of our new delivery culture and I think it’s a weak point.
Do I enjoy the 30 minutes I spend in QFC searching for goods in poorly organized isles and waiting in line at a cash register? Is this “tradition” worth keeping?
Have we asked the cashier or bagger if they like their jobs?
Is it better to wait for a takeout order with headphones in the foyer of a restaurant or just get it delivered?
Thanks again for writing. It’s thoughtful, if not thought-provoking. I appreciate you sticking your neck out, but you could expand on your point to make it more clear for the reader.
