That’s a good Q! To tell you the truth, there hasn’t been a situation where we have had to spin up 40 pods at once thus far. This links back to my point about limited configuration. As it stands, we’re stuck with kubernetes defaults but they’re working on it as part of this issue. If you add your comment and use case into this, they might consider it as part of the same work!
Yes, you can. If you’re using EKS, you need to pass in some extra arguments into the bootstrap script. Take a look at this Q&A on stackoverflow: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/51432341/eks-node-labels
If you’re not using EKS, it’s the same principle, you’re just passing in slightly…
I originally started writing blogs so that any misconceptions I had would be challenged by the internet. I’m glad to see that it’s still paying off. Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I’ll add an edit to the article now referencing this response.
What a fun question! I don’t really know, I haven’t done the research. I think, since extreme programming was introduced in 1996, there has been a greater focus on collaboration in software in general, because it has delivered better technology.
I could certainly see how organisations with a toxic culture might prevent pair…
I’m sorry that’s the experience you’ve had! It’s not the experience I’ve had — I’ve found pairing to be a great exercise for coaching and engineering consistent code. You clearly haven’t.
I broadly agree. However, I think baked into this is the assumption that the product owner needs to lead in order to be effective.
Certainly, the product owner should be an expert in their field. Does it then follow they should lead? I don’t think so. Its a bit of a picky point, the actual content of the article was very good.
Scrum doesn’t mandate that you wait until the end of a sprint to release. Kanban principles of flow can be easily introduced into a scrum setup. You seem to have misread the scrum guide.
I wrote an article all about this: “You’re not even criticising Scrum” by Chris Cooney https://link.medium.com/jJ6FMPxIhW
