Daryl Hall and John Oates have hit the road this summer with Train and as the May 6 show in Anaheim CA demonstrated, it’s a big, bold, colorful show that’s as big on production as it is hit records.

A spectacularly colorful and creative blizzard of video projections supported both groups, along with dynamic lighting and staging that made for dramatic moments, from Hall’s gentle take on “Sara Smile” from a baby grand, to a punchy co-encore which found Train’s Pat Monahan joining Hall & Oates for a variety of duets from both acts (including their new co-single, “Philly Forget Me Not”).

This appears to be a remarkably smart and successful pairing that no doubt will appeal to the musical sweet spot of concert goers.
