5 Lessons I’ve Learned With My Parents’ Mistakes in Business

Let me clarify

I promise you, I’ll be brief, because one of the most important things I’ve learned is that time is the key, time is everything and it’s the only thing we have full control of.

First of all, I was born in a family of entrepreneurs, my dad and mom, both of them worked almost all life building businesses.

I’ve watched thousand of failures, many mistakes and lack of money.

#1 Never stop learning

After several failed businesses, mom and dad divorced, I was about 7 years old and I’d have to choose where to live, dad or mom?

First lesson, business is cruel. If you stop learning, the market is going to chew you and spit you on the floor.

That’s exactly what happened with us, my parents got traumatized, they stopped learning.

They kept saying life is hard, the crisis was hitting and it was never their fault. Then, I’ve learned lesson 2.

#2 Be responsible for your success

If you start making excuses, complaining, crying, because life is hard or because you haven’t had opportunities, you will be a loser.

Take full responsability for your success, even if it’s raining, even if you are broke, even if nobody believes you, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE.

Never say it’s because you don’t have money, because you don’t have people on your side, never ever say these kind of things.

“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t -you’re right.”
Henry Ford

#3 Don’t be afraid of taking risks

Both of my parents were afraid, they were afraid of selling their businesses and starting all again.

“What would other people say?”

What is the problem of changing opinions? If you realize that your business is not gonna work, just adapt, change it.

Never be afraid of starting all over again, you shouldn’t give a fuck about what others say, don’t be afraid of taking risks.

#4 Look for answers

Please, don’t accept what others say easily, question it. Ask why it should be like this, why you can’t?

If you aren’t motivated, look for answers. If your brain tricks you, understand it. Read more books!

Nowadays, we have Iphone, we have internet, just google it! Download ebooks about the subjects you want to know more, talk to smart people on facebook, ask for opinions and absorb as much knowledge as you can.

#5 Specialize yourself

This one is the most important one, don’t try to be good at everything, you just can’t.

Find your passion and try to master it, listen to podcasts, copy succesful people’s habits, talk to them and breath their air.

Please, read more books! Focus on what is really important for you, you will need to let money on the table sometimes, it’s impossible to be everything you wanna be in 1 life, choose your path.

Conclusion

Choose your perspective, you can cry because your parents failed, or you can learn with all their mistakes.

Be smart my man, learn everyday with everyone, and everywhere.
