I think you’re right that I was a little hazy on the causality, and I’ve made an edit to reflect the influence of access to resources. That said, a relative lack of resources also facilitates prejudice by making people more susceptible to the notion that some other group is appropriating those resources. I think it goes without saying that people often don’t go to college because they can’t afford it, so I think (part of) the solution is still ultimately improving access to a higher education and the opportunities that come with it, especially for poor and rural folks, white or otherwise.
