5 must attend industry panels at Vidcon 2017
Okay, so you got your industry pass, hotel room is booked, and your Starbucks card is loaded up. You’ve carefully avoided groups of fans looking for Connor Franta or Gabbie Hanna. Vidcon, for those who don’t know, is part fan convention, part creator academy and Cannes Lions focusing on video, advertising, social media and influencer marketing.
First things first, forget going to Starbucks in Hilton or the Marriott, it’s a madhouse. There is coffee in the industry lounge (and other goodies).
Here are my choices of panels you really need to see (click on the links to see them on the Vidcon website).
Ad Nausea: I Hate Ads — I Love Brands June 22, 2017 10:45 AM
This is the first of many research studies that will be presented at Vidcon. 50% of the Youth consumer have ad blockers on. The study is going to show why these brand aware consumers have them on and how brands should counter.
Research Debut: Just How Effective Are Influencers in Driving Sales? June 22, 2017 11:05 AM
Okay, so more research studies that will be presented at Vidcon, but this one is the most important. Answering the question of how influencer brand deals drive sales will either hugely increase influencer marketing budget or start decreasing them. If it is driving sales, expect many PR firms to start really focusing on influencer marketing as dollars flow heavily to that sector.
Creators Tell Brands and Agencies What THEY Want June 23, 2017 10:00 AM
This should be very informative as the influencers on the panel have been for the most part around for a while. They have probably seen it all and will have some great horror stories to tell.
Return on Relationships: Influence vs. Influencer Marketing June 23, 2017 11:40 AM
Leveraging your influencer campaigns is something I don’t see many brands doing. I’m thinking this one might have some unique insights on this as well as helping you plan your influencer campaign.
From Statistics to Subscribers: How to Understand and Use Analytics June 23, 2017 5:00 PM
I consider Matthew Patrick the smartest person in the YouTube universe. Not only does he run two very successful YouTube channels, Game Theory and Film Theory, but he is a pro from his behind the scenes days showing how to use YouTube’s analytics to optimize your brand channels to actually get results.
These are some of the panels that stood out to me. I’m at Vidcon with brand clients Fox and Universal Pictures. We are producing the Ferdinand booth in the exhibit hall and the Despicable Me 3 lounge in the featured creator hotel. I also know plenty of the featured creators personally and plan to continue expanding my relationships with them directly and their direct representation. This is the 4th Vidcon I’ve attended which included the first one. It’s amazing to see how this has grown.
