Millions of Workers at America’s Largest Companies Struggle to Make Ends Meet

A troubling new report has revealed that over half of the workers employed by the largest companies in the United States are not earning a living wage. Specifically, the analysis found that 51% of all employees at Russell 1000 companies, which make up 15% of the total employed population, do not make enough to support themselves and their families.

This statistic lays bare the harsh reality that even those working at some of the most profitable corporations in the country are struggling to make ends meet. “These findings underscore the reality that some of the largest U.S. employers among the Russell 1000 have a disproportionate share of low-wage jobs and still have a long way to go when it comes to paying a living wage,” the report states.
