Alpha Waves ๐

One day I was browsing through my parents CD collection and found this album called Alpha Waves. I listened to the songs and each track sounded like spa music with an underlying hum behind it. The most interesting part were the titles of each track: change meditation, focused super-learning, and creativity problem solving. I was curious to see if music could actually improve these areas of focus, so I began listening to the alpha waves cd while I was studying, reading, or going to sleep. Somehow I felt that it actually did improve my overall level of concentration and mindfulness.
I decided to research what an alpha wave actually was, and discovered itโs the exact same frequency released in your brain during meditation. The alpha wave clears your mind of unnecessary thoughts, improves creativity, focus, and also decreases depression. These are huge issues within my generation that are easily suppressed by medicine, drinking, drugs, or caffeine. Having a background as a music engineer and finding a deeper practice of mindfulness, I wanted to see if alpha waves and instrumentals could be something people could use to help relax, get inspired, or vibe out.

The standard Alpha Waves session typically lasts 30 minutes and slowly lowers in frequency to guide your mind into a deeper level of concentration. In college I played alpha waves to help me study and improve my focus when test a taking. If Iโm anxious before an important meeting, Iโll pull out my headphones and listen for a few minutes to center my thoughts. They work well when youโre in a quiet place or engaged in everyday activity. Even though the practice of meditation is better than listening to alpha waves, itโs hard af and something we can all work on. Hopefully listening to alpha waves can deliver a new way to discover mindfulness and catch a wave ๐.
