It is a common belief that self-gratitude is something that only individuals who have achieved a certain level of success or happiness should indulge in. But this is not true at all. In reality, self-gratitude can be enjoyed by anyone, irrespective of their current life status.

Self-gratitude is about being grateful for what you have and who you are, while focusing on the positives in your life rather than the negatives. In other words, it’s about being thankful for what you have and not feeling sorry for what you don’t have.

It wasn’t until I read “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin that I learned just how many benefits there are to being grateful:

It’s a way to take control of our thoughts about ourselves. Self-gratitude is not just about what we do or how we look, but about who we are inside. It is a way for us to see ourselves as valuable human beings worthy of love, care, attention, admiration, respect, enjoyment — to develop self-worth which leads to self-respect.
