Where can I host my public Gear VR apps for free?

With SideloadVR shutting down, I want to help keep the Gear VR community alive.

The Past

When I first tried VR, I saw the potential for it to change education, collaboration and almost every other task in our daily lives. I decided that I wanted to build a world where Virtual and Augmented Reality was a part of every day reality.

As I built our platform with my co-founder, Jaime Bueza, we found friction with the current infrastructure tools and we decided that we could make a difference by helping developers focus on building the best content. And so, we started working on distribution tools first, to help the community share apps faster.

The Present

Fast forward ten months and, today, I was deeply saddened by the news that SideloadVR is shutting down.

SideloadVR has been around for several years and been a champion for Virtual Reality (VR) enthusiasts and developers. In the short time they’ve been around, they’ve published over 100 apps, had almost 400,000 downloads and signed up over 160,000 users. And, they did all of this while keeping the platform open for indie developers.

The Future

In order to help the Gear VR community, you can use our free tier to distribute your public apps. Just sign up to https://www.constructvr.io/ to begin sharing your public apps for free.

In the next few days, I’ll also build a public listing page for your public apps to be discoverable.

If you need anything else, please let me know in the comments below and I’ll do my best to help!

Always be learning,

CT
