The road ahead. Chapter 2 Module 2–4
For now we are 12 days in. That makes 20% of the whole course already done. And time flies — fast!
We went in four days through Module 2: “reporting avev SQL”. From the very basics up to aggregate functions, CUBE, ROLLUP, JOINS and sub queries. For further practice I now go on with different courses like datacamp, coursera, sqlzoo, etc.. Developing a routine, getting it into flesh and blood. Other recommendations please down there!
Module 3 was “Modélisation des processus métier avec BPMN”. Visualizations of processes and flows. Translating stuff and making it visible. Also, it feels that most of the stuff we learn is to be a translator. Translating business processes, workflows and also (maybe the most important thing!) Data from one world to / for the other.

Module 4 was “Fondements de la BI”. Getting from a bigger overview into the differences between the roles of data analytics and business intelligence. Then over using tools like Power BI and Tableau. Btw :imho Tableau is pretty cool and makes a lot of fun to use.
Now with four modules done it becomes clearly visible how one module builds up on one another. You always need the background of the previous modules. So missing only a single day is not an option! That was very hard for a few days last week because of a nasty flu. The whole family was sick and i had to take antibiotics. But I managed.
Next topic on monday: “Data Warehousing avec SSIS, SSAS et SSRS”. It seems to be the biggest module from all — five days.
I also found out that I do not have the time to get into Obsidian right now. Notion will keeps it’s job and it works pretty well for me.
And the language topic: as I mentioned before: everything is in french. Up to now it works fine but I have to push myself to speak more often — active practicing — leaving the comfort zone and this stuff. The same goes for writing in french.
So I should switch the language at home and write more in french — also here. Next: making a french version of this text.
Allons-y!
