2015 in Pop

I started following the Billboard Hot 100 very closely late in 2013, around the time I started reading mainstream music blogs. I’ve always liked pop music, but what I love even more is arbitrary charts, placements, and numbers, and the ability to recall them at parties to briefly impress strangers.

In 2014, I made a year-end series of comics about my favorite and least favorite pop songs that came out that year, and I decided to continue the tradition this year. At the end of November, I listened to every song that charted within the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100, and chose my five favorites and least favorites. Sadly, limiting my choices to only the top 20 on billboard ruled out a lot of my favorite songs this year, but I’m still proud of this list, and I’d still recommend any of my top 5 to anybody.

Before you read, a quick disclaimer: I’m not a professional music critic, and all of these comics are just my opinion. I don’t think you’re a terrible person if you like any of the songs I hated, or vice versa. Just one with bad taste.

With that out of the way, let’s start with:
