I Left The “Grand Old Party” Today

I share your sentiment. After seeing the cogs of government work first hand I too am disillusioned with politicians in general. Gone are the days of rhetoric based on one's ideals. Today we are in the political system of popularity or insanity. No more platforms, just marketing and branding. Analytics rule while principles are mitigated. It’s a sad situation.

While I applaud you for going neutral, I question your decision given the laws in Florida that don’t allow independents to participate in primaries. The party cannot be fixed by not being involved (unless of course you feel it should be rebuilt from the ground up). I guess Schmidt was right, “Without ash to rise from, the Phoenix would just be a bird getting up.”
