Frozen is a very entertaining movie. I loved that Disney took a few chances with this movie. It was great that the lead characters are all female, and I also enjoyed that there really wasn’t a villain, unless you count Elsa’s horrible parents. But most people might be surprised to learn that, in terms of comic book superheroes, Elsa is one of the most powerful superheroes that Marvel (now Disney) has ever created.

Elsa’s first major use of her power was to freeze an entire bay of water… in the middle of summer. With some quick internet research it requires 1 Watt of energy to freeze 8.1 grams of freshwater in one hour. If I take those numbers and do some back of the napkin math. Iron Man’s Arc Reactor puts out 3 gigajoules per second, which equals about 300 KW an hour. 1 liter of water weighs 1 kilogram which would mean 1 kilowatt would freeze 8 liters of water in 1 hour, which means that Ironman could freeze 2,400 liters in one hour. The next question is how large of a body of water did she actually freeze. Lets say that it was a 3 kilometer by 3 kilometer area and she froze it 1 meter…
