The Economics of Environmentalism
Natalie Schmidt

Naomi Klein say climate change changes everything – especially capitalism.

Though there are plenty of theories, nobody has come up with a verifiable grand economic solution that blends capitalism with non-growth.

In the meantime, niche businesses like Patagonia can exist within the existing framework of capitalism and can start to seed other ways of doing things. Like a tiny glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel, these enterprises don’t prove that capitalism can be turned around, but they do illustrate that capitalism can be softer, and can reform itself in small ways.

The end of that tunnel is still a very long way off.
